Athena Award—Maria Babb

Ms. Babb created the Middlesex Savings Bank position of “business development officer,” then researched and established the bank’s first “Business Development Team,” which, under her leadership, has measurably grown the bank’s deposits, loans and profitability. Ms. Babb has brought her considerable skills to numerous community organizations, as well, not least the MetroWest Chamber of Commerce, where she has been Ambassador of the Year, Chair of the Ambassador Committee—which is charged with retention and expansion of Chamber membership—and Chair of the membership campaign. In addition, she was one of the founding members of the English as A Second Language (ESL) Fund—which bestowed on her the ESL Fund Christine Taylor Award for her years of dedicated service and work to gain community support. Ms. Babb has also served on the boards of the Framingham Civic League, the MetroWest YMCA and the Danforth Museum of Art. In 2005, she received Middlesex Savings Bank’s “VIP Spotlight Award” for outstanding service as a community volunteer.
