2010 Census

Your Reply Will Help Our Towns

A short questionnaire for the 2010 national census will be mailed to your home next March. It will ask 10 questions and take about 10 minutes to complete. You simply fill it out and mail it back. Your answers are protected and may not be shared with anyone or any agency. (It’s the law.)

Your information will help your town: Census data directly affect how more than $400 billion per year in federal funding is allocated to communities for neighborhood improvements, public health, education, transportation, and much more. Spending just a few minutes to fill out your census questionnaire will help insure Framingham and other MetroWest communities receive their fair share of funding.

Your response will affect our voice in Congress: Mandated by the U.S. Constitution, census data are used to determine how many seats each state receives in the U.S. House of Representatives, and states use census data for redistricting.

The data will help local planning: Data about changes in our towns are crucial to planning decisions, such as where to provide services to the elderly, where to build new roads and schools, and where to locate job training centers.
