Chamber Awards Scholarships to Local "Leaders of Tomorrow"
For decades, the MetroWest Chamber of Commerce has been a strong supporter of the region's student population. This year was no exception! On May 14th, the Chamber awarded nine scholarships to local students at it's annual Scholarship Awards Reception during the Good Morning MetroWest Networking Breakfast at the Crowne Plaza in Natick.
Sponsored by Framingham State College and MassBay Community College, this event provided the opportunity for Chamber members to meet and congratulate these accomplished students.
$3000 in STEM scholarships went to three students, Chick Nna and Ashley Duda from Framingham High School and Deborah FanFan from Lincoln-Sudbury High School. The STEM scholarships are awarded to students interested in pursuing science, technology, engineering or math careers and who have achieved academic excellence in those areas.
In addition six students received Robert J. Lemieux Scholarships totalling $6000 based on academic achievement, work ethic and community involvement. Those included Katie Tiedemann from Algonquin Regional High School, Elizabeth Tyra from Wayland High School, Cheryl Bergman from Framingham High School, Juliana DeLiberais and Amanda Afonso from Joseph P. Keefe Technical School and Amelia Flyer from Hopkinton High School.
